Position Filled: Part-time Infant Nanny Near Cascade

The Michigan Nanny Authority: Grand Rapids is now interviewing for the following position:

A loving family near Cascade is looking to hire a Part-Time Infant Nanny for 25 hours a week!

First-time parents are looking to hire an experienced, professional career Nanny with extensive experience working with infants to provide top-notch loving care for their infant daughter.  Mother is planning to return to work on August 31st when the baby girl is 12 weeks old.

Flexibility is key for this position, as the father’s work schedule changes monthly and working hours will vary by day.  Nanny will be asked to work 2-3 days a week for 3-10.5 hours each day, depending when the parents’ schedules overlap.  The working hours will fall between 6:00am at the earliest and 7:30pm at the latest Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Nanny will always have Tuesday off, will always work Thursday from 7am to at least 12pm.  Nanny will always know her schedule for the following month at least one month in advance.  Nanny will be paid a guaranteed 25 hours per week, even if she works fewer hours, and will be paid for every hour she works above 25 hours in a week when more hours are needed.  Overtime will be paid for every hour worked over 40 in a week, which will be a rare occurrence.

The Nanny will partner with the parents to care for the emotional, social, developmental, and educational needs of Baby Girl as she grows.  The ideal nanny will have a minimum of 2 years of infant and toddler experience, including a minimum of 1 year of experience working with infants in a professional setting, and excellent references.   She will have knowledge of and/or experience with various approaches to infant care, and be able to adapt to the parent’s desires for the baby as she grows and her needs change.  She will be welcome to give her input and share advice and experiences, but parents want to take the lead in making any changes to the baby’s schedule and routine.  The family would like Nanny to help with Baby Girl’s socialization, and Nanny will be encouraged to seek out and take her to story times, play dates, and field trips.  Nanny will use her own car for transporting the baby, and mileage reimbursement will be provided for all miles driven with the baby in her car.

The Nanny will also be responsible for light child-related housekeeping, including doing the baby’s laundry, tidying and maintaining organization in her room and play areas, washing bottles, and cleaning up after meals, activities, and other messes.

The ideal Nanny for this family has an easy-going demeanor and attitude towards life, is competent and confident in caring for babies, and will be able to keep the baby on her schedule & meet her needs without daily instruction from her parents.  She is a maternal and loving caregiver and believes in laying an early foundation for learning by engaging Baby Girl with books, songs, conversation, toys, and exploring the world around them.  She is a professional with solid work ethic, who will make her work schedule a priority in planning her weeks, and can guarantee her employers punctuality, reliability, and flexibility.  Her knowledge of infant care will be a valuable resource for the parents, and will give them confidence in her ability to handle anything that comes her way.  She will be comfortable and confident in keeping open lines of communication with the parents, including keeping track of the day’s events and the baby’s milestones in a shared baby tracking app.

This position requires a minimum of a 1 year commitment to the family.  Pay will start at $17-18 per hour depending on experience and education, and Nanny will have guaranteed pay, paid time off, paid holidays, mileage reimbursement, and other standard nanny benefits.  Details will be discussed with qualified nannies at an in-person interview.

The right candidate:

  • Will have AT LEAST two years of part- or full-time nanny experience, or at least two years in a daycare or classroom setting. Experience raising children of one’s own is considered appropriate experience.  Babysitting experience only will not be considered appropriate experience for this position.
  • Will have AT LEAST one year of proven childcare experience with infants, will know how to interact with the infants to support learning and encourage their development, and will be able to use her knowledge and experiences to be a support and valuable resource for the parents.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and legal to work in the USA.
  • Will have her own reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a thorough background check and drug test before starting the position.
  • Must have current CPR/First aid certification or agree to complete a class within 90 days of start-date.
  • Must have flu shot and DTaP vaccine, or be willing to get both before her start date, and must be willing to get a flu shot annually (parents will pay for any immunizations.)
