The Michigan Nanny Authority: Grand Rapids is now interviewing for the following position:

A loving family near Garfield Park is seeking a Full-Time Nanny for 33 hours per week!

Parents are looking to hire an experienced, professional, and self-motivated Nanny to join their parenting team and help them care for their four children.  The family has three boys who are 8-years-old, 3-years-old, and 3-months-old, and a 2-year-old girl.  The Nanny’s schedule would be Monday: 8:30a-5:30p, Tuesday: 8:30a-12:30p, Wednesday: 8:30a-3:30p, Thursday: 1/2 day, hours flexible, Friday: 8:30a-5:30p for a total of 33 Guaranteed Hours weekly. The right candidate would be able to start right away!

The Nanny’s primary responsibility is to provide maternal, loving care and oversee the varying schedules of the family’s 4 children.  The oldest participates in a pod school on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Nanny may help with transportation on occasion.  Nanny will be encouraged to plan games and activities, oversee daily outside play and exploration time, and work on learning and development as much as possible while managing the daily fun and chaos of 4 children of differing ages.  Special care must be given to protecting the 3-year-old from a severe tree nut allergy, and special attention during meal preparation as the oldest has a gluten-free diet.  Parents will help set Nanny up for success in navigating these allergies with training and consistent communication.

The Nanny will also be responsible for light child-related housekeeping, including: helping with the children’s laundry, running the dishwasher, tidying and maintaining organization in the children’s rooms and play areas, and tidying up after themselves and the children in the common areas (living room, kitchen, etc.), always with the children’s help as developmentally appropriate.

The ideal Nanny will have at least 2 years of professional childcare experience, including at least 1 year of experience working with infants.  They will be self-motivated and will function like an extension of the mother and naturally step into the role, take over the daily and weekly routines for the children and keep their schedules straight, help keep order and organization in the home, and accomplish what needs to be done for the children without waiting for instructions.  They should have impeccable work ethic and be reliable, flexible, responsible, and trustworthy.  The ideal Nanny will also be familiar with Montessori and/or REI approaches to raising and teaching children, and will have lots of patience, strong empathy skills, and a deep maternal instinct and passion for working with children.  The family prioritizes honest, open communication, and are looking forward to welcoming their Nanny as a valued member of their family and extension of their parenting team!

This position requires a long-term commitment to the family, and preference will be given to the candidate who is willing to stay for more than two years.  A minimum of 1 year commitment is required.  Pay will start at $18 per hour and Nanny will have guaranteed pay, paid time off, paid holidays, mileage reimbursement and other standard nanny benefits. Details will be discussed with qualified nannies at an in-person interview.

The right candidate:

  • Will have AT LEAST two years of professional childcare experience and at least 1 year experience working with an infant.
