The Michigan Nanny Authority is now interviewing for the following position:

A growing family in Ada is seeking a Full-Time Nanny for a guaranteed 40 hours per week!

Professional parents are looking to hire an experienced and reliable Professional Nanny to provide top-notch loving care and consistent learning and development to the family’s 6-year-old daughter, almost 4-year-old son, and newborn due May 2022.  The family’s new nanny will be able to start right away!

Flexibility and reliability are key for this position, as both parents work in a hospital setting with predictably inconsistent schedules.  The mother’s work schedule changes monthly and she works a combination of daytime, afternoon, and evening shifts, and the father works 10-12+-hour daytime shifts.  Nanny will be asked to work Monday through Friday for a total of 40 guaranteed hours per week, but the shifts will differ each day and from each week.  The Nanny’s working hours will fall between 6am (the earliest requested start time) and 6pm (the latest requested end time) Monday-Friday, and the majority of shifts Nanny will work are 5-10 hours in length.  Nanny will always know their schedule for the following month at least two weeks in advance.  Due to the nature of the parent’s work and the rare but unavoidable times they are held up at work and unable to leave, Nanny may occasionally be requested to work late with little notice.  Parents try to schedule their on-call shifts so that they don’t happen concurrently, but in the event both parents must work outside of Nanny’s usual working hours, Nanny will be given first right of refusal for those later evenings, overnights, or weekend shifts. Because parents can plan ahead for these occurrences, at least 2 weeks of advance notice will be given, and grandparents are readily available for backup when Nanny isn’t available. Nanny will be paid a guaranteed 40 hours per week, even if they work fewer, and overtime will be paid for every hour worked over 40 in a week.

ALTERNATIVELY: For the right candidate, the family is able to accommodate Nanny working every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only, from 6am to 6pm, for a guaranteed 36 hours per week.

The eldest child, a 6-year-old girl, attends Kindergarten full-time.  Nanny will help her get to and from the bus before and after school, oversee her homework (in the future), afternoon snack, and playtime after school, and will provide all-day care, fun, and engagement for her during snow days, sick days, and school breaks.  Until the baby comes, the primary care each day will be for the family’s almost-4-year-old boy.  He attends preschool Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30-11:30am, and Nanny will provide transportation to and from school.  On the days the preschooler is not at school, the parents would love for Nanny to take the preschooler out for social and educational activities such as story times, play dates, museum trips, and playgrounds.  The also family has a membership to Frederik Meijer Gardens that Nanny will be added to, as well as to a local outdoor swimming pool for swimming with the kids on summer days.  The family’s third child will join them in May 2022.  Nanny will continue to help through the mother’s maternity leave but won’t take over full care of the newborn until the mother returns to work.

The Nanny will also be responsible for light housekeeping, including doing the children’s laundry, tidying and maintaining organization in the children’s rooms and play areas, and doing dishes and other clean up after meals and activities.

The ideal Nanny for this family has a deeply ingrained passion for working with children and takes personal and professional joy in investing in children and watching them learn and grow under their influence.  They will have a positive and inclusive outlook on life, and be organized, responsible, patient, and have a friendly, easy-going demeanor.  They are a professional career Nanny with solid work ethic and a high level of responsibility and dependability, willing and able to accommodate the parent’s unusual work schedules.  They will have the ability to multi-task to meet the needs of three children of different age levels at once and have professional experience with working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.  They are a maternal and loving caregiver who will naturally become an important part of the family and love the children in their care as if they were their own.  They are also a creative and engaging playmate, who believes in laying an early foundation for learning by engaging the children with books, songs, toys, and exploring the world around them.  They will feel comfortable sharing ideas and feedback with the parents about the children’s development and needs as they change and will be skilled at keeping open lines of communication.

This position requires a long-term commitment to the family, and preference will be given to a candidate who is able to stay for 4+ years.  Pay will start at $20+ per hour (along with a new baby raise when nanny takes over care of the infant when mom returns to work from maternity leave), and Nanny will have guaranteed pay, paid time off, paid sick days, paid holidays, mileage reimbursement, and other standard nanny benefits.  The family is also open to offering a monthly health insurance stipend, 401K contribution, or payments toward student loans or undergrad or grad schooling as part of the total compensation package. Details will be discussed with qualified nannies at an in-person interview.

The right candidate:

•              Will have AT LEAST two years of part- or full-time nanny experience, or at least two years in a daycare or classroom setting.  At least 1 year of experience working with infants in a professional environment is preferred.

•              Must be at least 21 years old and legal to work in the USA.

•              Will have their own reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.

•              Must pass a thorough background check and drug test before starting the position.

•              Must have current CPR/First aid certification or agree to complete a class within 90 days of start-date.

•              Must have the COVID vaccination, annual flu shot, and recent DTaP vaccine, or be willing to get all before their start date, and must be willing to get a flu shot annually (parents will pay for any immunizations.)
