The Michigan Nanny Authority: Grand Rapids is now interviewing for the following position:
A loving family in Spring Lake is looking to hire a Full-Time Infant Nanny for 40 hours week!
First-time parents are looking to hire an experienced, professional Career Nanny with extensive experience working with infants to provide top-notch loving care and consistent learning and development for their daughter, who will be 4-months-old when mother returns to work in November. Nanny will work Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm for a total of 40 hours per week. Family will guarantee a minimum of 40 hours a week and overtime will be paid for every hour worked over 40 each week. Parents would like to have Nanny start by mid-November.
Nanny will partner with the parents to care for the emotional, social, developmental, and educational needs of the baby girl. They will be a loving, maternal caregiver who is invested in the child’s health, safety, education, and growth. They will have knowledge of and/or experience with various approaches to infant care and be able to adapt to the parent’s desires for the child as she grows and her needs change. Nanny should be engaging and attentive, able to plan gross and fine motor skills activities and sensory activities, and should be fostering a love of and excitement for learning and exploring the world around them from day one. Playdates, story times, classes, and other age-appropriate and COVID-conscious social excursions will be encouraged when baby is older.
The Nanny will also be responsible for light child-related housekeeping, including: doing the baby’s laundry, washing/sanitizing bottles daily and other dishes used, loading/unloading the dishwasher, tidying and maintaining organization in the baby’s room and play room, and tidying up after themself and the baby in the common areas (living room, kitchen, etc.)
Both parents work from home and each parent has an office in the home that is separate from the areas the Nanny and baby will be in. The parents spend large parts of their days on video calls, so they are planning to create a respectful working environment where they and Nanny will prioritize minimizing disruptions to each other throughout the day. Because both parents are generally always home during their workday, there will always be a family vehicle for the Nanny to drive for classes, activities, story times and playdates.
The family has two friendly dogs who will need minimal care and interaction from the Nanny during the day, but Nanny should feel comfortable sharing their workspace with them.
The ideal Nanny for this family is warm and welcoming, with a calm demeanor and a positive attitude toward life. They will have a personal and professional enthusiasm and passion for spending their days loving on and investing in an infant (and her family!) They are a maternal and loving caregiver who will naturally become an important part of the family and thrill along with the parents over every new stage, development, and accomplishment as the baby grows up. They are also a creative and playful caregiver, who believes in laying an early foundation for learning by engaging the infant with intentional conversation, books, songs, toys, and exploring the world around them. The family hopes Nanny quickly feels like family, and will be comfortable and confident in keeping open, honest lines of communication with the parents, especially over COVID precautions and any potential exposures. Nanny’s knowledge and experience working with infants will be a valuable resource for these first-time parents and will give them confidence in their ability to handle anything that comes their way. The ideal Nanny will have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children in a professional setting, with 1 year of consecutive care of an infant (ideally from birth to age 1), and excellent references. Preference will be given to candidates who have a college degree, additional certifications, or coursework in child development or child psychology.
This position requires a long-term commitment to the family, and preference will be given to the candidate who is willing to stay for 3+ years. A minimum of 1 year commitment is required. Pay will start at $18-19 per hour, and Nanny will have guaranteed pay, paid time off, paid holidays, mileage reimbursement, and other standard nanny benefits. Details will be discussed with qualified nannies at an in-person interview.
The right candidate:
- Will have AT LEAST two years of part- or full-time nanny experience, or at least two years in a daycare or classroom setting.
- Will have AT LEAST one year of proven childcare experience with infants, will know how to interact with the infant to support learning and encourage his development, and will be able to use their knowledge and experiences to be a support and valuable resource for the parents.
- Will have their own reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and legal to work in the USA.
- Must pass a thorough background check and drug test before starting the position.
- Must have current CPR/First aid certification or agree to complete a class within 90 days of start-date.
- Must have the COVID vaccination, annual flu shot, and recent DTaP vaccine, or be willing to get all before their start date, and must be willing to get a flu shot annually and any future COVID boosters as recommended by the CDC (parents will pay for any immunizations.)
